Knife Texture
Work Knife texture :
The Knife Texture series highlights painterly material as a language in its own right. Each canvas emerges from a spontaneous gesture using the palette knife, where acrylic paint is applied in relief, creating rich and vibrant textures. The composition develops through a diagonal gradient, starting from the center and expanding toward the edges, revealing a movement that is both fluid and structured. Vivid and iridescent colors interact in harmonious balance, offering reflections that shift with the light. These variations in tone and thickness give each piece a distinct visual depth and tactile dimension. The Knife Texture series invites viewers to contemplate matter in motion, where color becomes surface, light, and energy.
Techniques and materials :
The paintings in the Knife Texture series are created with acrylic paint on bleached cotton canvas stretched over a wooden frame. The artist works the surface using palette knives of various sizes to achieve relief and texture effects that vary according to the density of the applied paint. The acrylic is spread with the knife through controlled, repeated gestures, forming visible layers that capture light and enhance the sense of movement. The diagonal gradients radiate from the center toward the corners of the canvas, balancing direction and expansion. Vivid and iridescent tones play with light, revealing shifting nuances and a pronounced visual depth. Each painting is finished with a glossy aerosol varnish, which protects the surface while amplifying the brilliance of the colors and the texture.
